The landscape redesign at the Fashion Institute of Technology transformed a previously inaccessible, fenced-in area into an inviting, pedestrian-friendly campus amenity. The intervention removed physical barriers and introduced new pathways, seating areas, and thoughtfully designed planting beds to foster a welcoming atmosphere for students, faculty, and the broader community.
A two-tiered plaza was reimagined as a flexible outdoor gathering space, supporting events such as student flea markets, live performances, and campus-wide initiatives. The design features potted trees, seasonal plantings, and integrated seating zones that encourage informal interaction. In-ground lighting subtly illuminates the space at night, enhancing both safety and ambiance.
