Signage plays a critical role in campus identity and wayfinding. At FIT, the design of a prominent gateway sign on Seventh Avenue marks the pedestrian entrance to the campus while reinforcing its brand presence. Emphasizing sustainability, the sign is powered by a concealed solar energy grid installed on the overhead bridge connecting two academic buildings. This solar array not only powers the LED signage but also feeds excess energy back into the grid, with projected solar gain significantly exceeding consumption. A surrounding green roof enhances environmental performance and integrates the infrastructure seamlessly into the campus landscape.
