The new Student Lounge at the Fashion Institute of Technology is a complete renovation of the former “pizza parlor” on Campus. New carpeted areas with soft seating, new lighting, sound absorptive curved ceilings, a computer “bar” and a new sound system are some of the attributes for this space. The corridor wall is glass to allow more visibility and borrowed light. The seating arrangements vary, as does a portable stage to allow for stand up comedy, poetry slam, and chaired meetings. Green building design uses cutting edge radio frequency for light switching, recycled materials, no voc paint, LED lighting and polished concrete.
