The Spa at Cranwell Resort and Golf Club, a 35,000 square foot spa is linked to most of the guest rooms by heated glass corridors, providing year round access. The main access from the luxury suites to the spa is an underground tunnel designed to disturb as little of the landscape as possible. This design strategy also permitted more of the building to be built into an existing hill and consequently take advantage of the Berkshire Mountain views while providing the visual effect of the new construction rising naturally out of the ground. The HVAC plant which was extensive and in a separate building was totally buried in a berm to maintain the visual quality and appeal to the resort. The new spa features a 60 foot long indoor pool, saunas, steam rooms, soundproof treatment rooms, private lounges, state-of-the-art locker rooms, a café, and gift shop.
